Emma Taylor, MD

Emma Taylor, MD is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who graduated AOA and with highest distinction from the Keck School of Medicine at USC. She completed her internal medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and her dermatology residency and Dermatopathology fellowship at David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA.

She subsequently co-founded Naked Biome, a microbiome therapeutics company, and currently operates as the company’s CEO. Naked Biome is developing a new class of bacterial-based therapeutics to treat multiple dermatologic indications, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. She helped the company secure it’s seed financing, acceptance into the 3rd Cycle Illumina Accelerator program, and facilitated its selection as an official Johnson & Johnson JLABS company, operating out of the JLABS at QB3 953 in Mission Bay.

Dr. Taylor is has published in notable medical journals including Nature, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatology Therapy, and Dermatopathology. She is also the author of more than 42 book chapters. Dr. Taylor is certified by the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Dermatopathology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Medical Society memberships include Alpha Omega Alpha, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and American Society of Dermatopathology. She has also served on the American Academy Sports Committee. Her practice areas of interest include medical dermatology, including skin cancer screening, acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

Dr. Taylor is also the inventor of multiple PCT patent filings, one of which recently obtained issued claims status.
