Banish Belly Fat With CoolSculpting For Men

Posted on: June 2nd, 2017 by California Skin Institute

Are you fed up with stubborn fat that accumulates around your midsection and seems to be resistant to exercise and diet? Do you find yourself frustrated and discouraged by a burgeoning belly pooch? Perhaps you have no love for those ineptly named love handles. Let’s take a look at why men tend to gain weight around their midsection, why this excess fat is resistant to diet and exercise in some individuals, and what you can ultimately do to reduce belly fat.*

Why do men experience gain weight around their midsection?

Studies suggest that due to hormones, men and women may gain weight in different areas when they first start to accumulate fat. Men are prone to gain weight in the abdominal area where it settles around the belly, flanks and lower back.

Women on the other hand tend to experience weight gain in their legs, buttocks, around the hips and thighs. However, fat accumulation varies on an individual basis and it occurs differently for different body types.

How does CoolSculpting work to address and reduce belly fat in men?

CoolSculpting freezes and damages fat cells in a targeted area during each treatment session.* Once frozen, the fat cells die off naturally in a process known as apoptosis and are absorbed and eliminated by your body’s immune system.*

Who is a good candidate?

Unfortunately, CoolSculpting is not ideal for everyone. People who are medically obese should not use CoolSculpting.* The ideal candidates for CoolSculpting will have noticeable pockets of fat in certain areas that they would like to get rid of.* CoolSculpting is popular with people who are seeking a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.*

What does the procedure entail? Do I need to plan for recovery time?

During the procedure, a gel pad and applicator will be applied to the targeted area. The applicator will then deliver controlled cooling to the targeted area of fat. Treatments typically last between 35-60 minutes depending on the individual and the area being treated.* Your skin may feel a little chilly, as well as a pulling or sucking sensation as the applicator draws in fatty tissue, but the sensation is generally well tolerated.*

You are also free to multi-task, read a book, send some emails, or even nap while maintaining the proper positioning of the CoolSculpting applicator while sitting or lying down.

Because CoolSculpting is noninvasive and requires no surgery, needles or downtime, you can typically go right back to your daily routine after treatment.*

When will patients see results?

You may notice results as early as several weeks after the procedure, but most people will see results within several months after treatment.*1 For optimal results, your physician may suggest you return for additional treatment sessions.*

Are results long lasting?

Once fat cells are frozen and damaged cells are removed by the body’s lymphatic system, outcomes tend to be long lasting.* However, CoolSculpting does not prevent future weight gain over time if you choose not to follow a healthy diet and exercise.*
